Cachet Makers Are Artists
Cachet Maker Association members share information about the
methods, materials, and postal policies concerning the production of
cachets. A cachet, pronounced "ka-shay," is a miniature work of art on
the face of an envelope.
Adding a new postage stamp and
a postmark that says "First Day
of Issue" makes an envelope a
First Day Cover (FDC). FDCs are
a specialty of stamp collecting.
We Meet Once a Year
The Cachet Makers Association is a non-profit group formed as a
chapter of the American First Day Cover Society (AFDCS) in 1988. We
conduct a business meeting at the AFDCS annual convention called
AMERICOVER.
Dues-paying members receive the Left-Sider News. We
call it the "Left-Sider" News because when the newsletter
started in 1989, most cachet makers still placed their
designs on the left side.
